The Moment a Thing is so Familiar. . .
It is Strange.

It's called the "decisive moment" or  "golden light" or any number of other things.  All words for that

moment when you look through your viewfinder and find the picture that you saw in your

mind even before you picked up your camera.  It's why we buy the equipment, why we snap

the shutter a hundred times, why we drag out of bed long before the first rays of the sun touch

the horizon, why we're still standing there long after the last light of the sunset has passed from our

sight for another night.  To capture that perfect image, to freeze a split second of time, to share

a view of the world that always takes our breath away, or to give a new vision to something that

people walk by everyday, but never truly see.  It's why I take pictures.

It's my Passion.

I don't remember the first time I looked through a camera.  Only that it was along time

ago.  I've always loved the process, from the feel of the camera to finding the correct

exposure, to making my own prints.  Except for a brief experimental period I've always shot with Canon

35mm using color slide film or black and white negative.  I've been scanning and processing

my color slides for years and a short time ago sold all my black and white enlarging equipment

after seeing the quality of a digital black and white print.  I've recently gone completely

to the digital side after adding a Canon Digital camera to my collection.  I also love to play

with a Mamiya Medium Format camera and would like to one day do some shooting

with large format, just for the fun of it.
